Restaurant Malraux, nestled in the heart of Chicoutimi at 274 Rue Malraux, is a delightful family-run establishment that has quickly gained a loyal following among locals. With its focus on homemade meals, customers rave about the generous portions and rich flavors that evoke a comforting, nostalgic vibe. Many reviewers, such as Joey from JoeNet, appreciate the affordability of their formula lunch menus, which offer a variety of delicious options that change weekly, making each visit a culinary adventure.
Another highlight is the warm and inviting atmosphere, as noted by Farris Hale. Despite its modest decor, the restaurant shines with cleanliness and excellent customer service, making it a favorite lunch spot for the community. Diners specifically mention the satisfying traditional dishes, with poutine being a standout item. While some have noticed a few inconsistencies—such as freshness in certain ingredients—the overall experience remains positive.
For those seeking a cozy breakfast venue, Malraux delivers with classic brunch options that keep customers coming back, especially on Sundays. Though it lacks some premium offerings, the charm of traditional selections like croissants and sandwiches creates a welcoming culinary haven that is truly worthwhile. Restaurant Malraux is not just a place to eat; it’s a gathering hub that brings comfort and joy through homemade food.

A very affordable family restaurant. What can we say about the homemade food with taste and generous portions. We discovered this place and it will become our routine when we are in Saguenay. Formula lunch menus and weekly menus with different variable choices and all delicious!

Small restaurants where all the local guys come for lunch, the meals are the mother's food, like pork and yellow potatoes. Very nice welcome, very clean, excellent service, very low price for lunch. I recommend you. We will come back. The place is hard to find, the decor to refresh, but the poutine is perfect. The best is to take it to go because the place is not the prettiest

For Sunday brunch, look no further than Malraux. Many other restaurants are unable to open due to staff shortages; not here. I had the croissant with extra banana, and it was delicious. There are plenty of traditional choices on the menu, but no premium options like Benedictines or stuffed crepes—that's really the only downside.

Cozy breakfast place in Chicoutimi that is reasonably priced! I got a club sandwich and the cheese was not fresh at all but all the other plates we ordered were well made!

Had dinner at this restaurant a few days ago. My party of 4 really enjoyed the food. We had a 50/50 platter- half meat/half seafood, some of the offerings were delicious, others take getting used to, still worth ordering to try something new. The duck confit special was delicious, I had the chicken dish and it was amazing.
